Our 'Why'

We believe in the power of music education. Our highest priority is to support music education by helping educators have more time to focus on what’s most important: the students.

Our 'How'

We work exclusively with music education programs and always communicate with empathy and understanding. We are truly passionate about audio, but people (directors, staff, and students) are our highest concern and will always come first.

Meet the Team

Since 2015, Andrew has provided audio services to marching ensembles and officially formed Microphonic Designs in 2018. In 2023, the company gained an invaluable team member, with Wendy joining as an apprentice in the professional audio field. Ever growing, Aaron joined the team in early 2024 as an experienced sound engineer, sound designer, and audio consultant in the marching arts.

About Andrew

Hey there,

I'm Andrew Werst, a Dallas based audio professional and sound designer. I love being able to make a difference for educators and students through the work I do and am excited to continue growing Microphonic Designs.

In early 2013 I graduated with my Bachelor's of Science degree in the Recording Arts from Full Sail University. The skills and knowledge I acquired at Full Sail are the core of all the work I do: From the studio to the marching field.

As a performer, I spent the summers of 2013 and 2014 with the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps and aged out of the marching activity with Matrix Indoor Percussion Ensemble in 2015. My involvement with drum corps didn't end there, as I went on to work as the audio technician for Crossmen in the summer of 2015 and the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps the following year.

After the 2016 summer with Phantom Regiment, I moved to Dallas, TX and began working as the in-house audio consultant for Lone Star Percussion. Microphonic Designs was officially formed in early 2018 and in late 2020 became my full-time endeavor.

Away from the job, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, Liz and Eli, and try to make it out to the skatepark as often as I can.

She was a part of the Front Ensemble for 3 years and then marched bass drum her senior year. She continued her performance career as a Front Ensemble member at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) for two years, becoming section leader her second year. She acquired indoor marching experience being a member of the WGI group, Vigilantes Indoor Percussion (ViP) in their 2022 season, becoming a part of ViP history by making world class finals.

She recently finished her second year of school pursuing a bachelor’s in Audio Production at the University of Texas Arlington. This past year Wendy started taking her major related classes and is excited to start her audio career. She has done several audio related projects for her classes and is getting familiar with the ProTools software and audio production techniques.

She reached out to Andrew at the 2023 TMEA Convention and expressed how his work at Lewisville High School was very influential in her choice to pursue music through the audio realm. She is super excited to be working at Microphonic Designs as an audio apprentice! She will also be returning to Music City Drum Corps as an audio tech for the 2024 DCI season.

About Anthony

Anthony Abruscato is a music educator, arranger, and audio engineer based in Greenville, Texas. Originally from the Los Angeles area, he relocated to Texas to study Music Education at Texas A&M University–Commerce (now Texas A&M University–East Texas), with a focus in low brass pedagogy. While there, he studied under several distinguished educators and performers, including Jeff Baker and Phillip Clements. His performance experience spans drum corps, concert ensembles, jazz bands, and marching bands across Texas and beyond.

Throughout his career, Anthony has served in a variety of educational roles within the Texas public school system, with a particular focus on small-school band programs. As a band director, he often took on responsibilities beyond the podium—including stepping into the role of the program’s audio engineer. One of his most notable achievements came while working with the Redwater High School Dragon Band (Texarkana, TX), where he led the design and implementation of the ensemble’s electronics and audio systems. His work contributed to the band earning a UIL Class 3A State Marching Contest medal in 2024—their first in nearly two decades.

Driven by a desire to support other educators and programs navigating the world of performance audio, Anthony connected with Microphonic Designs to bring his skills to a wider audience. Today, he maintains a full schedule of audio consulting and music arranging for clients across the country. His work includes collaborations with BOA regional finalists, UIL Area and State competitors, and community ensembles looking to enhance their audio capabilities.

Outside of his professional life, Anthony remains active as a performer—whether it be with a baton or a trombone. He enjoys supporting his wife, Aldyn, a talented stage actress, and spending time with their two cats, Yoda and Binks. He is an avid tinkerer and enjoys home improvement and computer electronics.
